PHILANTHROPY
Philanthropy means the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.
Life is a mixture of happiness and sorrow. We think about the Lord and pray to Him only when we suffer. We do not think about Him and thank Him when we are happy. We should always think about Him especially on birthdays, wedding days and ceremony days.
We should do some philanthropic act on such days. Feeding the poor, donating to old age homes, helping social welfare organization or visiting the nearby temple and offering money within our capacity in the Hundi are some of the noble acts. It can be anything.
Some people may be averse to offering money into the Hundi, for the reason that it may be misused and it may not serve the purpose. We can only give the money to the Lord. It is for HIM to decide about it. HE knows when and how to make use of it. No one can cheat HIM.
They will have to pay a heavy price. Putting money into the Hundi is an act of renunciation. We should forget about the money. Searching where it goes and how it is used shows our attachment towards the money. There is a purpose for everything that takes place in this world. Nothing can move an inch in this world without HIS order.

வாழ்க்கை சந்தோஷமும் துக்கமும் நிறைந்தது. நமக்கு துக்கம் வரும்போது இறைவனை நினைத்து பிரார்த்தனை செய்கிறோம். சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கும் போது இறைவனை நினைத்து நன்றி சொல்ல மறந்து விடுகிறோம். நாம் எப்போதும் இறைவனை நினைக்க வேண்டும் குறிப்பாக பிறந்த நாள். திருமண நாள், திதி நாள் ஆகிய நாட்களில்.
அந்த நாட்களில் நாம் நல்ல காரியங்கள் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஏழைகளுக்கு உணவு அளித்தல், முதியோர் இல்லத்திற்கு நன்கொடை கொடுத்தல், சமூக நலங்களில் ஈடு படும் நிறுவனங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்தல், அருகில் உள்ள கோயிலுக்குச் சென்று உண்டியலில் நம்மால் முடிந்த அளவு பணம் செலுத்துதல் முதலியன சில நல்ல சேவைகள்.
சிலருக்கு கோயில் உண்டியலில் பணம் போடுவதற்கு விருப்பம் இருக்காது. அந்தப் பணம் நல்ல விதத்தில் உபயோகிக்கப் பட மாட்டாது என்பது அவர்கள் எண்ணம். நாம் இறைவனுக்கு கொடுக்கிறோம். அதை உபயோகப் படுத்துவது அவன் எண்ணம். நாம் ஒன்றும் செய்ய முடியாது. யாரும் இறைவனை ஏமாற்ற முடியாது. அந்தப் பணத்தை எங்கு எப்படி உபயோகப் படுத்த வேண்டும் என்று அவனுக்குத் தெரியும்.
இறைவனை ஏமாற்றுபவர்கள் அதிக விலை கொடுக்கும் படி இருக்கும். உண்டியலில் பணம் போடுவது நமது பற்றற்ற மனதைக் காட்டுகிறது. அந்தப் பணத்தை உடனே மறந்து விட வேண்டும். அதைப் பற்றி நினைப்பது, அதன் மேல் உள்ள ஆசையைக் காட்டுகிறது. உலகில் நடப்பது எல்லாம் ஏதோ ஒரு காரணத்திற்காக நடக்கிறது என்ற நம்பிக்கை வேண்டும். அவனல்லால் இப்புவி மீதே ஓர் அணுவும் அசையாதே.
