ஆறிலும் சாவு, நூறிலும் சாவு

இப்பழமொழியின் உண்மையான அர்த்தம் என்ன? ஆறும், நூறும் கண்டிப்பாக வயதைக் குறிப்பதில்லை-

மகாபாரதம் - குருசேத்திரப் போர் தொடங்கப் போவதற்கு முன் - குந்திதேவி தான் திருமணம் ஆகாத போது சூரியபகவான் மூலம் பெற்றெடுத்த தனது மகன் கர்ணனிடம் சென்று உண்மையைக் கூறி, "உனது தம்பிகள் ஆன பாண்டவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து கெளரவர்களை எதிர்த்து போர் புரிவாயாக" எனக் கூறுகிறார்-

அதற்கு கர்ணன், "தாயே,  நான் பஞ்சபாண்டவர்கள் ஐவருடன் ஆறாவது சகோதரனாக சேர்ந்து போரிட்டாலும் சரி, எனது நண்பன் துரியோதனன் உட்பட நூறு கௌரவர் சகோதர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து போரிட்டாலும் சரி, நான் இந்தப் போரில் மரணமடையப் போவது உறுதி- எனவே ஆறிலும் சாவு, நூறிலும் சாவு - "எனக் கூறியதாக மகாபாரதக் கதை கூறுகிறது-

இதற்கு வேறு ஒரு பொருளும் உள்ளது. "ஆறு என்பதற்கு அமைதியாய் இருத்தல் என்ற அர்த்தம் உள்ளது - நூறு என்பதற்கு அழி,பொடி, வெட்டு என்ற பொருட்கள் உள்ளது - அதாவது பொதுப்படையாக வீரம் என பொருள் கொள்ளலாம் - ஆக அமைதியாக இருப்பவனுக்கும் சரி, வீரமாக இருப்பவனுக்கும் சரி, மரணம் என்பது பொதுவானதே ஆகும் -ஆகவே இடம், பொருள், காலச் சூழலுக்கேற்ப இவ்விரு உணர்வுகளையும் கையாண்டு நாம் நம் வாழ்வை சிறப்புடன் வாழ வேண்டும் - "

1111. Senior Citizens are unwilling to live in the US and the younger generation is unwilling to leave the US, purely due to the lifestyle there.
