IT IS MADDING CROWD

Recently, there was a tragedy involving the crowd in a temple at Kanchipuram. Such incidents are not rare in our country. Neither the people nor the Govt is able to understand the gravity of the situation and take remedial measures to avoid such incidents.

The purpose of the temples is different. Many people do not know exactly. If people misuse it, they are only responsible. People do not think about God when they are happy. They visit temples only when they suffer. More the problems for them, more the crowd in the temples.

No one thinks of the spread of communicable diseases. eg pulmonary tuberculosis, infections that could kill many immunocompromised People. People must be made aware of this. Sufficient precaution must be taken by the authorities and social welfare organizations to protect the people.

Generally, most of the crowd in temples have no reason. Some are superstitious, some are addicted to being seen as methodical, meticulous and knowledgeable in performing rituals. This gives a euphoria and ego tickling. That is the reason for the crowd. People may have other purposes unrelated to God

I am seeing this crowd behavior for the past 60 years. In 1960, when I was studying in Tiruchy I used to walk along the road where RAJA theatre was situated. There was a narrow entry like a hole to go through a narrow lane to reach the ticket counter for 63 paise.

It was not even wide enough for a slim person to enter. You have a huge crowd on the opening day of an MGR movie. Say, AAYIRATHIL ORUVAN. You will be surprised to see the person standing far off literally walking over the heads of people to reach the entry.

People celebrated their success in getting the ticket after their shirts were torn, dhothies missing and sweat flowing over their faces and body. We are brought up like that. What to do? We will never change. MGR was simply happy that his movie ran for weeks with houseful shows.

This is the attitude of the people. We have no patience, no discipline. People must see the behavior of people in the US. If people are not patient and well disciplined to follow the rules and queue system, why do they go to a crowded place? For that, education and removing superstitious belief are the need of the hour. MAY GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY.
