BUDGETED RETIRED LIFE

A friend told me that he wanted to lead a budgeted life after his nearing retirement. I gave him the following suggestions. I do not just preach. Determination comes out of life situations. I was bankrupt in 2001 and I became self-sufficient in 2016 by strictly living on these lines for 15 years. It is healthy, economical and satisfactory.

1. Get up at 6 Am.

2. Walk for 30 minutes morning and evening.

3. Breakfast 8 Am, lunch at 1 pm, dinner at 7 pm.

4. No snacks. Only fruits.

5. Wife to broom the floor daily.

6. Husband to mop the floor daily.

7. Wash your dresses.

8. Wife to wash pillow covers once a fortnight.

9. Husband to wash bedspreads once a fortnight.

10. Husband to wash netlon/screens once in two months.

11. Both to clean the house dustfree once in two months.

12. Washing of utensils is to be shared.

13. Go to bed by 9 Pm.

14. Go only for necessities.

15. No debit or credit cards and I phone.

16. Only cash purchase of listed items once a month.

17. To save electricity, use 25W and switch on only when needed. 

18. Do not use a defrosting fridge, AC, large TV, and washing machine.

19. Have only 5 sets of dresses.

20. Always travel by bus or train.

21. Hotel once in 2 months.

22. Cinema once in 2 months.

23. Accounting, reading, writing, music, meditation are to be included.

Total expense for two people per month excluding rent is approximately Rs.6000/ You may add a thousand or two in case of need.
