A HERO IN THE MAKING

You have bad children but not bad parents. Every parent dreams for good children. In some families all children are good and in some a few are bad. Whether it is a large family or a nuclear family this phenomenon exists. It is believed whether a child is good or bad depends on its karma in the previous birth.

The previous generation had many children but less money. They believed in "more the children, more the security"They had to be strict in everything. The last generation had fewer children but more money. They believed in giving freedom to the children. In both the cases, good children found opportunity in difficulty but the bad children found difficulty in opportunity.

While the good children went along with their parents, the bad opposed. The parents especially the father had to control such rebellious children. There was always confrontation, fighting, and beating. The boy was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge upon his own father. When he grew old and gathered sufficient muscle power, he started opposing his father physically too.

He turned into a black sheep in the family without studying, missing the school, roaming on the streets with bad elements, chasing school and college going girls and teasing them by singing movie songs. He got into bad habits like smoking, drinking alcohol etc and for the money, he cheated his own parents by taking a commission on domestic purchases or forced them to spare.

Unable to tolerate the atrocities of such a boy, and fearing that his other children would also get spoiled, the father had to throw him out of the house with a broken heart. Stealing some money without the knowledge of the parents, and with some dresses, he left the house. He reached the abode for such boys, the city of Chennai.

On landing in the city, the first need was food, accommodation, and job. The only place where one could get all the three was the hotel. He managed to get a job in a hotel, washing utensils, cleaning the table, serving food and doing other menial jobs. He was provided with food and also allowed to sleep in the hotel during the night.

His only aim was to become a movie actor. He thought it was so easy to get into the cinema field. He visited all the movie studios, begged popular directors, actors and producers for a chance but no one listened to him. Now, he realized what a fool he was and to miss wonderful parents and a happy family. He cried uncontrollably.

He realized there were thousands of boys run away from home like him waiting to be an actor without any success. One day, Lady luck smiled at him and a director gave him a small role in his movie. He felt so elated as if he was the hero and went on telling everyone. After years of suffering, he managed to do a few roles and got some recognition.

A popular director offered him a good role in a movie with a good story which succeeded at the box office and made him a star overnight. Now he was able to make some money and as usual, bad elements joined him and the success went into his head. He acted in many movies and became a hero and was welcomed by everyone in society.

He might join a political party or start on his own and contest the elections. He would be elected for his movie image. He would then give lectures on social reforms as if a Howard graduate. He would then become an MLA, a minister and might be a chief minister. A hero in the making. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, for some greatness is thrust upon them.
