மனதில் தோன்றிய எண்ணங்கள் 1816 TO 1830

1816. எளிமையாக வாழுங்கள், இனிமையாகப் பேசுங்கள், ஆரோக்கியமாக இருங்கள், நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்குங்கள், அதுதான் சிறந்த வாழ்க்கை முறை. வேறு இல்லை.

1817. உணவுப் பசி இரண்டு வகைப்படும். ஒன்று வயிறு காலியாகி கேட்பது. இரண்டு நாக்கு வேண்டும் எனக் கேட்பது. முதலாவது நல்லது. இரண்டாவது கெடுதல்.

1818. காதலிக்க ஆணின் முக்கிய தகுதிகள்: ஒரே சாதி, நல்ல படிப்பு, வேலை, சம்பளம், குடும்பம், 3 வயது வித்யாசம், மனப்பொருத்தம், கெட்ட பழக்கம், முன்கோபம் இல்லை.

1825. நம் தவறை பிறர் சுட்டி காட்டும் போது உடனே ஒப்புக்கொண்டால் அல்லது பிறர் தவறை எப்போதும் சுட்டி காட்டாமல் இருந்தால், நமக்கு கோபம் வரவே வராது.

1826. நானே ராஜா, நானே மந்திரி, நானே சேவகன்  என்கிற மனப்பான்மையை வளர்த்துக் கொண்டால் பிறர் தயவை நாடும் நிலைமை வராது. பிறகு ஏன் கவலை?

1827. பிறருடைய வளர்ச்சியைப் பார்த்து நாமும் வளர முயற்சி செய்ய வேண்டும். அதைவிட்டு வயிற்றெரிச்சல் பட்டால் நமக்கு வீணாக குடல் வியாதி தான் வரும்.

1828. வயதான ஒரு தம்பதி கடமைகளை முடித்த பின் இவ்வுலகில் தாங்கள் இருவர் மட்டுமே இருப்பதாக நினைத்து சந்தோஷமாக வாழ்ந்தால் அது ஒரு சொர்க்கம்.

1081. Why the election should not be held null and void If the percentage of votes not polled, together with invalid votes and NOTA, is more than 50%?

1082. When a person talks to me, I can easily find out his intentions and what type of person is he by observing his look, body language and his words.

1083. How much the children love a parent or hate them is the result of 28 years of upbringing. No point in crying over the spilt milk.

1084. In India, if a man and woman are found talking together, eyebrows raise for obvious reasons. In the US, no one cares to look at them.

1085. I always tell the kids during dinner that Goddess Sri Lakshmi lives only in the food wasted and they all laugh. Is it so funny?

CIGARETTE SMOKING

Smoking cigarettes is a bad habit apart from using snuff, drinking alcohol and chewing pan-Parag. Among the four, using snuff is outdated. Drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco come later in life. 

But smoking comes mostly during the teenage or adolescent period. Mostly it is induced by a friend who is a smoker and who needs company.

At a young age, without knowing the consequences, a person gets into this bad habit and suffers lifelong. He finds it very difficult to leave the practice and only a few with willpower can succeed.

Actually, when the first cigarette is smoked, a small quantity of nicotine is added to the blood which causes slight dizziness that makes the smoker enjoy. 

When the nicotine content in the blood goes down, he gets an urge to smoke again and levels the nicotine in the blood to enjoy the dizziness. Thus the number of cigarettes increases day by day as also the nicotine level.

In the 60s, a friend of mine was a smoker of Wills brand cigarette which was about 12 annas [75 paise] per packet of 10. Now I understand it costs about Rs.100 per packet of 10. 

Assuming a person smokes a packet a day, the cost comes to Rs.3000 pm. which can easily meet the provision for two people per month. Many people tried to reduce the number of cigarettes to leave smoking but they miserably failed. 

To leave the habit, one must know:

1. The financial impact.

2. The consequences of smoking.

3. To what extent it will affect others financially?

4. Effects of Passive smoking.

It is impossible to leave the habit little by little. One must have the willpower to stop it abruptly. 

RANDOM THOUGHTS 1066 TO 1080

1066. Problems can be compared to a  peanut. It is insignificant. If you keep it near your eye, it will look huge. If you keep it away it will look small.

1067. For 70 years, India and Pakistan are fighting over the Kashmir issue incurring heavy losses. Can you suggest a viable and permanent solution?

1068. Inflation has gone up due to corruption and black money. Can you suggest how corruption and black money be eradicated?

1069. At present, parents have no other option but to accept love/inter-caste/inter-religious marriages if their wards are to be married on time.

1070. I am 77. I am a conservative when dealing with 60 plus, a modernist when dealing with below 40 and either of the two when dealing with 40 to 60.

ENGLISH GRAMMAR

English grammar is taught at school. Higher the class, higher the standard. It is for examination purposes only. Thereafter the details are forgotten. Most people do not even remember basic grammar. 

But they know English very well and they can write and speak good English. At that stage, they concentrate only on the usage of words and the formation of sentences that become important. 

For this purpose, they resort to reading books. Only by reading books, one can improve his knowledge of English. They read every line many times to get into the usage of words and the formation of sentences. 

This is how a person learns the English Language. The more books you read, the more knowledge you get. Starting with children's books, step by step, they read books of a higher standard to reach the top. 

AMAZING ENGLISH

Many parts of the body can be used as verbs either in a physical or a metaphorical sense.

You can "head" a company, but if things go wrong, you'll have to "shoulder" the blame, or "face" the consequences. 

A good leader will "back" his employees, but if you don't "toe" their line the management can "skin" you.

Did you "muscle" your way into that job? 

You might "eye" someone suspiciously, or wait for the police to "finger" a suspect. 

But if you need to get out of town, you can "thumb" a ride or you can ride with me if you can "stomach" the thought.

Use a strong "arm" tactic if you want to "elbow" out someone.

I don't always sing along with the radio, but I sometimes do "mouth" the words.
