A kind man had been quietly giving a homeless stranger Rs.1,000 each month. One day, he handed over just Rs.750. The man accepted it with a shrug—“Better than nothing”—and walked away.
The following month, it was only Rs.500. Frustrated, the homeless man confronted his benefactor:
“You used to give me Rs.1,000. Then it dropped to Rs.750. Now it’s only Rs.500—what’s going on?”
The benefactor sighed and explained:
“When I first started, my finances were comfortable and all my children were little. Then my daughter went off to university and tuition bills forced me to cut back to Rs.750. Now my son has also started college, so I can only manage Rs.500.”
The homeless man frowned and asked, “How many children do you have?”
“Four,” came the answer.
“And you expect to cover all their college fees with MY money?”
🤔 Sometimes people begin to view generosity not as a gift, but as an entitlement.
