Health and wealth are like the two sides of a coin. Wealth without good health is of no use. During our earlier life, we were in pursuit of wealth. At least, in our later years, we should take care of our health. To follow a routine and systematic life after retirement is important to maintain good health as medical expenses are high now.
I am 76 and I give below my daily routine as guidance for others. You may make suitable adjustments according to your lifestyle. The younger generation may also follow. However, please remember "early to bed and early to rise" make a person healthy wealthy, and wise.
5-00 AM Wake up.
5-30 Getting up from the bed.
5-30 to 6-00 Brushing / prayer.
6-00 Black coffee.
6-00 to 6-30 Reading Times of India.
6-30 to 7-00 Mild exercises.
7-00 to 8-00 Morning walk.
8-00 to 8-30 Browsing The Hindu, BBC News. etc,
8-30 Organic green tea with ginger and lemon or soup.
8-30 to 9-00 Morning chores / bath etc.
9-00 to 10-00 Prayer / meditation.
10-00 to 10-30 Morning meals [Rice, sambar or rasam, vegetable, buttermilk].
10-30 to 1-30 Reading / writing / music.
1-30 to 2-00 Nap
2-00 Black coffee.
2-00 to 3-30 Reading / writing / music.
3-30 to 4-00 Evening tiffin [idly, dosa or steam cooked] with buttermilk.
4-00 to 5-00 Evening walk.
5-00 to 5-30 Browsing Internet / WhatsApp.
5-30 to 6-00 Evening bath / prayer.
6-00 to 7-00 Reading / writing / music.
7-00 to 7-30 Dinner [same as in the morning].
7-30 to 9-00 Reading / writing / music.
9-00 To bed.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. I read about 75 pages a day.
2. I wash my clothes myself.
3. I browse the Internet for knowledge.
4. I see a movie on TV with family once a week.
5. I rarely make calls on my phone.
6. I help with domestic chores.
7. Dinner in the hotel and movie once a month with family.
8. Mostly, I dine together with my family.
9. I help my granddaughter with her studies.
10. This routine may vary on special days.
